Lend a Caring Hand, Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of our team. You will not only be helping patients but their loved ones as well. An hour or two a week can provide extraordinary compassion and support to those in need.

Many volunteer opportunities are available in the Baltimore, MD area – from working with patients and families to non-patient-related activities for volunteers who would be more comfortable with such tasks. Some examples of volunteer activities include (but are not limited to) companionship, reading, light housekeeping, meal delivery, playing cards, and office services.

The gift of your time helps improve the quality of life for patients and families during this journey.

What Does a Hospice Volunteer Do?

  • Quality Time. Spend time with a patient, allowing family members a period of time away from home for respite or errands.
  • Entertainment & Joy. Read and sing to the patient.
  • Item Delivery. This can include food and more.
  • Connection & Check-ins. Make phone calls to the patient.
  • Hobby & Passions Support. Whether it be writing a journal, drawing, or some other way of expressing himself or herself.
  • Clerical Services. This may also include administrative work.

You don’t need to have any previous, specialized training. We provide free training through our volunteer training program. Bring your talents and personality and provide comfort and care for those in the last days of their life.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check
  • Completion of Appropriate Training
  • Two Step TB Test (Direct Patient Care Volunteers Only)
  • Drug Screening (Direct Patient Care Volunteers Only)
  • Weekly Check-Ins (Direct Patient Care Volunteers Only)
  • Good Organization for Tracking Hours, Mileage, and Care

Note: Background check, TB test, and drug screening are covered by Revival Home Health & Hospice and we reimburse for mileage and craft expenses.
